Some of our best childhood memories are very often related to food. This week I’d like to share with you, 2 traditional Quebecois recipes that I learnt from my mother-in-law, who in turn, copied them from her grandmother.

The recipes may be old… but they are absolutely delicious! I’m talking about Split pea soup and Cabbage rolls. The only snag is the lengthy preparation time of the rolls. If, like me, you have neither the time, nor the patience to roll each meatball in a cabbage leaf, you can quite simply alternate layers of meat with layers of chopped cabbage.

The resulting dish may be a little less elegant, but equally good, and you will have cut down on at least 30 minutes of the preparation time mentioned here.
