We await them every year with impatience. But finally, Quebec strawberries are here! Picked at exactly the right time of maturity, Quebec strawberries have their own unique taste.
Low in calories, strawberries are an excellent source of Vitamin C, potassium and magnesium. In short, there are plenty of reasons to load up on local strawberries. What’s great is that the season is getting longer and longer thanks to some varieties that can be cultivated all the way into September.
While they are in season, I like to have strawberries 3 times a day – starting at breakfast and going all the way to supper. They are great to eat as is, for sure, but I like to add them to my salads, as well as my homemade ice cream or sorbet and of course, jam!
But one of my favourite recipes by far is Risotto with Strawberries. Its colour and taste guarantee success. I love watching my dinner guests’ eyes light up when I present them with this dish.
